I felt like actually playing with some of the yarns I've been making this summer. And I'm very pleased by how they came out.

Otherwise...things happen. Sometime soon I should post the Saga of the C.H.U.D's for your amusement and entertainment. There's pictures. And city workmen giggling. If you see my Facebook, you already know all about it, but it would be fun in one big happy chunk of weirdness...

The last couple of days off have been a bit of hurry-up and wait...long bits of resting and sacking out with books, and frenzied running around at home Getting Things Done. Then more sacking out. And company!!! I had miss Fleur over for pizza and had the best time:) We played with my yarn stash and she showed me this beautiful sock she's working on. I showed her the goofy hat I was playing with and we geeked out very happily. Soon it will be nice and coolish out again, and I will have the oomph to knit more gut-creatures, since I don't have one in the house...not one!!

I did have other creatures, though. Yesterday I was cleaning up in the kitchen and saw a spider the size of my thumb--the body, not the whole thing. I shrieked and did my best Sigourney-Weaver with the broom, but I think it vanished down the heating vents. I eye them suspiciously now, even though I whacked that thing really hard several times. And this morning I discovered a blue-black wasp in my bathroom first thing in the morning. Again with the Defeat-the-alien techniques, this time using a broom, a paint roller, some soap, a scrunchie and the toilet. Soooo, I probably don't need coffee this morning. I know this sort of thing is just part of living in a state park, but sheesh...

...And it's worth it to sit on the patio furniture with Ben and Peaty and a candle. Ben brought out the laptop and showed me the video for Amy Winehouse's "Rehab', which I hadn't seen. Cooooool, man...

...I had an easy day at the Jade Mines yesterday, so I had enough energy to play with the spinning wheel a bit last night. I've got two bobbins of this lovely purplish stuff I spun with some blue and deeper purple high and lowlights, and some silver thread to give it some shine. I think when I get a chance I'll two-ply them together and see how it goes. I should take pictures; it's really nice stuff, like the color of purple grapes in old paintings:)

I'm trying my hand at making a little drop-spindle to keep the bigger one company. I made a little polymer-clay whorl and it's at home, waiting to be baked and glued onto the dowel I've cut to size. A little sanding and painting and I should have a nice-looking light spindle all ready for spinning. (I'm practicing so I can make my parental unit one; she mentioned she might like to try it sometime since I was making some neat stuff.)

Otherwise all is well...lately at the Jade Mines we've all been telling each other ghost stories. The Mines have at least 3 resident ghosts that we know of, and they're for the most part quiet and benevolent. Yesterday I spent some time at the Link swapping ghost-experiences with my cow-irker at the time, and this morning another guard and I went through all the haunted room telling each other about weird things that happened to us there.

So now I'm on a ghost kick, tell me your ghost stories. I demand ghost stories!!! Real, heard-of, urban-legend--I don't care, gimme gimme gimme!!! In return, later on I'll tell you some...
