A FlederFunFact...

...All this snow is reminding me of something that happened as a little, little kid. I was five going on six, staying with my grandparents. I'd lived in Hawaii for a couple of years, and I'd forgotten that snow was in fact cold. Icicles were an endless source of fascination, and fun to lick besides. I was coming inside with my little brother, saw the frost and ice on the iron railing near the door, and well...

Okay, how many of you saw "A Christmas Story?"
*Counts hands*
Remember that scene when the kid got stuck to the railing by his tongue?

Yep. that's exactly what happened.

And then my little brother, who didn't realize what happened, tugged at my arm to get me inside...and pulled me off the railing, leaving behind a little skin. Owwwwwww....

Grandma figured out what happened in about two seconds. I remember eating a lot of ice-cream to get my tongue to stop bleeding. It healed without any trouble, but even now as an adult whenever I look closely at an icy bit of iron I clamp my lips a little tighter to protect my poor tongue.

So there you are.

Poor little Ms. Eff. That is a funny part of the movie, but I'm sure not funny to anyone that's really happened to. OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!

It wasn't funny for me...It's a little funny now I'm older. I tell people what happened and they go, all huffy, "You should have known better!"
S'cuse me; I'd been living on an island for a couple of years...some people's kids.:)
