As I was throwing out the garbage today I ran into my nice neighbor Leslie, who asked me, "Would you like to meet somebody?"
I followed her to the back of the chicken coop, and sitting in a live-trap was a shivering opossum, with wide dark eyes. "He was going for the chickens and the apples, I think. I'll take him to Wildlife Rescue and they'll release him somewhere else."
Poor cute little guy. I'm usually grossed out by pictures of opossums, but this guy was just cold and scared. I wanted to knit him a small sweater with a hood. *shakes head* But we can't have him going after the undoubtably tasty chickens, so there we are...

We've got some interesting wildlife out here lately. Geese, of course and raccoons, so we keep the lids nice and tight on the trash cans. The opossums, apparently. Lots of songbirds, and I saw a beaver swimming in the river on my way home from work the other day. I really like it here!
