A night of Grizzlies and cocktails...
Dec. 30th, 2007 12:09 pmLast night I had a chance to hang out with Ben and Peaty, Miss Kitty, and Matt and Erin, sitting in the living room and sharing our mutual cabin fever. Somehow if you share light cabin fever with friends you don't feel as feverish. There were huge buckets of roses. There was wonderful ham sandwiches with brie and french bread. There were nature specials. There was downloading of that one crime show with the vigilante sociopath. But the most memorable bit was watching the Herzon documentary "Grizzly Man", about the who loved, trusted and was eventually killed and eaten by grizzlies. I thought it was an amazing film--Herzog's got a knack of taking a subject and making it shine in it's most complex, compassionate but piercing way--even about a man who the room quickly found irritating, naive and just plain rock-stupid. His clips began with little bits from the couch--"What did he say? He didn't just say that, did he? That's so bizarre..." To "Oh Noooooo, he didn't just dis gay folk! You jerk!!!You utter jerk!" to: "Can we please have the bears eat him now? Please? Please? How about now?!? Anything to shut him up!"
Someday I'll have to check out the movie properly without the peanut gallery...but it won't be nearly as fun.
