Sick day, baby sick day....(To the tune of "Love Shack")

Today is a day I would have gone back to work after my nice long vacation...but alas, I'm still hacking up goo and snuffling. It's their fault, too--I definitely got this summer cold from THEM...Evil, evil Them. So since I was feverish and goo-filled for pretty much the whole vacation, and I'm still not great now, this is a sick day. Plus it has the added bonus of having maintenance come by my house today to fix a sink. I am full of worry. Years ago in another place, I had people come to fix the exact same thing, and they messed up so badly they flooded my apartment and destroyed a ton of my books. I feel better being there myself to help stop whatever atrocity is about to be committed in the name of fixing things...Plus if I don't like how it's going, I can cough up a really impressive loogie and spread the plague like, well...the plague.

I did get some news from work--the union and management have agreed on a contract. Finally!!!
It took lots of serious stubbornness on our part to do it. Also buttons with cheerful fruit on them, the RNC coming up, and the other union declaring solidarity with ours. I am relieved, so very relieved. It's been a very long fight, and in the back of my head I was worried about striking, retaliation, and whether or not we could knit back up all the serious wounds our department has received this summer. It's a start, anyway...

So anyway, I think a little more vacation is in order:) I'm gonna sit on the couch and knit, and wait for the plumber...doooley dooley doooo...

Such good news about the workies!! I know this has been a big thing for you and you've worked really hard at it, so congrats to you.
