Did my couch just burp?...

msfledermausI got home from work and after some brief but rewarding puttering involving soup, laundry, dishes and brownie-making, I planned to just settle in on my comfy couch with some knitting I'm trying to finish. It's a sleeveless top with some fair-isle in it, with shades of orange and rose. And now one ball is missing. It's been on the couch this morning. I shuffled the cushions, and it's not hiding under any of them. Or the couch blanket. Or the coffee table. Or under it, as far as I can reach...
As anyone who's been to my place can attest, my place is charmingly cluttered, but never really out of control. Everything's relatively tidy for the most part. So, there's no obvious place for the ball of yarn to hide...Which leaves me to several conclusions:
1: It magically teleported itself into the freezer.
2: It's hiding under my Solstice Shrub, waiting to position itself on my coffee table tomorrow just to make me crazy.
3: My couch ate it. Literally ate the yarn. It's never exhibited aggressive yarn-gobbling before...why now? Have I been neglecting it? Maybe it's trying to get attention by acting out...
I'm going to rest a minute, then check around the couch again...but if I hear munching noises, this couch is gonna PAY!!
