*inhale, exhale*
Dec. 17th, 2008 07:51 amYesterday really sucked for a lot of the day...
First thing in the morning a staff member had a big heart attack, so we all scrambled like crazy to get 911 and the defibrillator kit. Lucky me, I was on ground floor, sprinting like a madwoman to open doors and direct first responders. The staff member's going to be okay, which is a vast relief. But for the rest of the morning, all the early guards were walking around pale, trying to shake off the adrenaline...personally I spent a lot of the day with a tension headache, which was made even more fun by a teacher trying to dump off a misbehaving kid at the Security Desk while his class went on their tour. I had to be very, very firm with him on this point--we're not a daycare, we can't and don't offer that service, and inwardly I was appalled that a teacher, however frustrated would demand such a thing...
But the evening perked up amazingly. Ben and Peaty had the new neighbors over--the Black Cat caterers, Karen and Phil. They're amazing people, really funny and good and they make heart-rending Croques Monsieur. We watched Drop Dead Gorgeous, and then went across the street to Miss Kitty's house and caught up on all her good news. I'm afraid I was kind of quiet company--I was just really tired and headachey, but I really enjoyed being with friends... and that was a better way to end the night...
