Knock Knock...

I had a visitor today at the Jade Mines. At first, I didn't hear my number being called, since I was in a quiet section and we had to keep the radios down under pain of scoldings. Then when I went down to lunch, Des came up and said, "Hey, there's this guy looking for you, in a yellow shirt and really cool sideburns!" Whuh? "What did he look like?" "An older guy, with a beard and cool sideburns, and red hair." Red hair...It could be Peaty, back early from New York. Or Rocky. Or Scooter. Or maybe kinda Mr.Scraggit. But Peaty's younger, and Rocky's got an on-again-off-again mohawk, and Mr. Scraggit's foot is still in a cast. I started thinking of all the guys I knew. "Ummm...you lost me. Did he have a mohawk? Did the hair look dyed? Was he really super-tall? Did he have glasses? Did he look gay?"...

Eventually I got called again, and I wolfed my lunch and went upstairs to find it was Contingent,and I was delighted to see him. (I think I saw Dave and Red last at...holy cow, Thanksgiving?) We chatted a bit about my work situation, which was so very kind of him...it's nice to get an outside point of view when it comes to the non-prof world. At any rate, after a way-too-short time, I had to go back to work...but I really hope Dave stops back when he's in the neighborhood. I promise to turn my radio up, I promise!!
