So far so good...
Jul. 3rd, 2009 11:55 amShamu's healing up nicely from his visit to the vet. The doctors tell me he was really good about the whole thing, and there were no complications. He's still a little groggy, and he's spending most of his time resting, which is good. I've been petting him gently and checking him obsessively to make sure he's comfortable...
The fun part for me is later this evening. I have little oral syringes of bunny-vicodin to give him, once a day. It takes two people--one to hold Shamu and one to get the dropper off to the side of his teeth. But now that we know what we're doing, I don't see much of a problem there...
Otherwise, things are okay. I slept a lot yesterday, and there was social stuff. Most of the neighbors came to pet Shamu too, which was nice. I've been spinning yarn in the backyard, and it looks like the Jehovah's Witness people are out in force today. I'm usually pretty polite about that kind of thing, since it's usually some scared teenager knocking on my door and wibbling when they see my Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo t-shirt. But it does annoy me; in the politeness meter of my soul. (My inner Miss Manners comes out, saying, "Such rudeness! Trying to frighten complete strangers into accepting your worldview is Not Nice!") I have to fight terrible impulses to have some fun, really...but I manage to stuff those impulses down deep, unless they get in my face right away, telling me I'm hellbound and whatnot...
Ah, but Ben the Neighbor...if they try to wake him early enough, he'll have those impulses ready to go, front and center. I'll have to check with him later, to see if he has a story to tell me...
