Last night in my puttering session at home, I figured I'd fix up an old coat I had that was warm and woolly, but just an unflattering cut with epaulets and whatnot on it. I decided worst comes to worst I could chop it into squares and make some kind of blanket out of it. I cut off about a foot at the bottom, used it to add panels to the sides for a curvier shape, took off the buttons and carefully cut off all those ugly, ugly epaulets. I surprised myself--it looked a lot better than I'd hoped for...

Now the plan is to hem the bottom, add black fluffy knitted stuff to the bottom and cuffs, and reattach the buttons. I'm just glad all that sewing up of sweaters and whatnot is paying off here.
