This weekend I did a big run to what a bunch of my friends and I call the scratch-and-dent food store, and I stocked up handily for the week. Since I'd bought lots and lots of frozen chicken and had extra coconut milk in the cupboard, I whipped up a batch of green curry last night..

Now I have leftovers for lunch, and dinner too. Life doesn't suck:)

My MIL always shopped at the scratch and dent stores. That's a cheap way to buy food, but she'd also buy cans that didn't have labels on them and give them to us.

Beth is terrified of cans in general, but especially cans with even the slightest irregularity on them. When the bottom falls out of our way of life, she will learn better.

That's not okay, not ever. Gah!

Usually I'm pretty picky about what I get. Where I go the produce is great if you eat it really fast. Frozen stuff is fine, dried stuff is fine, but I haven't seen anything there in cans that interest me. And this place keeps the labels on, bless 'em!

Probably better off with frozen stuff, really. Canning's come a long way, though. I have to say, I'm not a huge fan of canned vegetables; though various beans are just fine. Which reminds me, I should make some kind of chili soonish, just because...
