The Mines are fairly busy today. We've had lots of kids, lots of big meetings. I had this very charming pair of EMP's on their off-time in my galleries, and we chatted about some of the haunted rooms for a while. I love getting patrons like that...

The cooler weather has made me famished. I made a huge pot of pasta with cheese and beef and mushrooms. Leftovers today were exquisite...

Tonight I'm tutoring my cow-irker again--more spinning, more "interning" by the Wee Orca. Shamu's interning mostly consists of trying to sit on the treadle of the wheel while we're having a lesson. He's very cute, so we move him out of the way very gently--which encourages him to try sitting back down on the wheel. Little critter-varmint...

I've been devouring Poppy Z. Brite's books like candy lately. I found my copy of "Prime" is missing chapter 13. I have to go complain to somebody. Now I'm halfway through "Soul Kitchen", and I have to go back to work soon...*snivels a little in a self-pitying fashion*

Also, I'm extremely annoyed by the newspaper today--they've been blathering about some Tea Party person who "used to practice Witchcraft." There are snarky little comments and editorial cartoons, and it just pisses me off. Greaaaaat, another whack-a-doodle to make everybody think that we Pagan folk are bad people, people who maybe deserve being hurt somehow. It bothers me...

Anyway, more good than bad, and that's better than bad, that's good...

I was irritated in the way she said it.
"I 'dabbled' in witchcraft."

Is "Soul Kitchen" the same as the movie that's coming out soon?

I know! "dabbled" sounds like she gave up watercolors or something. Being a witch, an actual witch and not just somebody screwing around with some cheapy spell-book from Spencer Gifts, takes practice, concentration, commitment. It's a little like karate. If it didn't work out for her, that's all well and good, but don't go dissing an entire belief system because it didn't work out like a spiritual ATM for her...

I'm not sure. I don't think so, though. I'll have to read some reviews and compare them with my book.

She also believes, unlike most pagans, that the world was created 6000 years ago. Th whole thing about her former BF who sacrificed animals just creeps me out. Maybe she used to date Jeffrey Dahmer.

Wasn't there a demonically-possessed car named Christine?

And that's another thing--they're going to tell people that we're a bunch of killers, when that's totally not the case. Even the Santeria folk have to follow strict rules about that kind of thing. If you're killing the neighbors' animals to power spells, you're not a witch, you're just a psycho...

And for some reason I've been reading about Jeffrey Dahmer lately. I haven't been looking, he just kind of pops up in whatever context I'm reading or whatever. It's a little creepy, really. *shudder*

{{Mausi}} I could do without being reminded about Dahmer, myself, but he never goes away. I think about him any time I hear about another psychopath torturuing and killing kitty cats or other defenseless beings. I probably mentioned this before, but one of my brother's post college roommates in Milwaukee claimed that his brother was killed by Dahmer. Too close for comfort.

I'd be interested to know. - the trailer looked very good.

Man, way too close...

Yeah, I guess he's the textbook example of what someone is capable of when they start out hurting defenseless creatures. And in the Midwest we have the stereotype of safe, boring towns where nothing really bad ever happens. It makes it extra shocking and horrible.
