I haven't been posting much lately. It's weird. It just feels like I've been so busy. There's that human-hair scarf project I've been working on that I'm really starting to dislike. What possessed me to say yes to such a request? Because it was weird, that's why. Anyway, my goal this week is to finish that thing so I can knit something else. Anything else. Something not full of...hair.

Otherwise, things are good. Fall is beautiful. We had an event at the Mines that usually gathers protesters, but this year the protesters have been pretty low-key, with a banner and some costumes. One guy dressed up as an orangutan. They also had this great invention--a bicycle-powered blender! One guy pedaled and another held onto the lid and added fruit and ice, making smoothies. I wanted one so very, very much. I should talk to my neighbors to see if we can make a bicycle-powered blender, just for kicks.

I was also reading,"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" again on the bus, and this tiny little boy sat next to me, asking questions. "What's that book?" "What happened to that lady?" "Aren't zombies green?" "Is that for-real zombies?" Cute as a button, I tellya! I answered as best I could, that it was a story about nice ladies who grew up to kill zombies and save everybody, and he seemed okay with that.

So now I'm chilling out with the computer, before I put my ninja-knitting skills on the line yet again...

Human hair scarf?! Can we see a picture of it when you're done? Please?

Perhaps you could claim that the human hair scarf was destroyed in a collision with a barber.

A protester with a bicycle-powered blender seems like a different sort of protester altogether. What were the protesters' objections to what the museum was doing?

Sure. I'll be happy to document my struggle with the horrors or human hair:

Not so much the museum, but General Mills were having their annual stockholder's meeting. Usually the protesters are there to protest Cargill, to which GM has links. This time it sounds like Cargill gave a little bit, so the rainforest people had cheerful banners and a man in an orangutan suit...

It's almost a pity; in years past we've had PETA with naked people in cages, and guys dressed as Spiderman upset about women in the workplace...

It's good to be busy, but we miss you just the same. I am lousy at posting, myself.

I am about to order Vampire Cabbie by Fred Schepartz, the former co-worker of some friends of mine.
