I talked to my mom last night; found out my brother and sister-in-law are moving down to Missouri temporarily to get help with the Soon-to-be-Arriving Critter-Spawn. (As I affectionately call my eventual niece/nephew.) I'm glad we're getting to know each other better as a family. Our
earlier days together were extremely stressful and painful for all three of us, especially my mother and my brother. I'm glad they're getting a good chance to work things out.
I'm also grateful I'm getting a chance to be closer to my mother. (This hasn't been easy for either of us, and it's a veeeery long story.)

I'm also very tired today...went out for coffee with Bri, got to talking with a neighbor of mine about various things, philosophy, psychology, how territorial we are as humans and the important social cues we use to establish territory as well asdominant and submissive behaviour, etcetera. We ended up staying awake till 2am. *OOg.* I've got to stop this staying out late stuff for a while; my brain is trying to wiggle out for a nap. ("You don't love me anymore!!" says my brain. "Why won't you let me sleep and relax? Grumble grumble." I'm so sorry, reallyzzzzzzzz...)

I try not to do the quoting thing too much unless it's just too good a joke to pass up. Usually.:)
But last night walking in the cold night air to meet Brian I kept running into people cruising the neighborhood where I live. (Not agressively, so it's usually okay, but it makes you very careful at night. It reminded me of a chant Meryn Cadell put on a Cd once. (Don't remember which; the one before "Bombazine")
*With the sound of heels walking down asphalt*

Click clack
through the street and steaming sewers.
Take the chance the only chance
you chicks would take and cakewalk home
on icy brakes and clicks the make
and walk through your cold neighborhood
but don't get raped, knock on wood....

*the clicks fade into the background*

Martina hobbled home,
on a dark street at 3:00 at night.
Nobody was around.
"that's the worst time" part of her said.
But the rest said
vuh-tup
vuh-tup
vuh-tup
vuh-tup
to her swinging legs.
Click-clack
through the steam of distant sewers.
Take the chance the only chance
you chicks would take and cakewalk home
on icy brakes and clicks they make
and walk through your cold neighborhood
but don't get raped,
knock on wood.

*the clicking of heels gets louder, then passes you by and away...*

Ms Fledermaus--sometimes a small song captures a perfect moment of memory...what's your most powerful one?
