I've got another tape today!
Apr. 16th, 2001 01:29 pmPhill's been taping Invader Zim for me from Nicolodeon. (I am cable-challenged:) Invader Zim is a cartoon made by the creator of Johnny the Hoomicidal Maniac, my beloved Jhonen Vasquez. I saw the first show last week, and shried, 'Ohhhh, myyyyyGODDDD!!!" And whooped with joy. It's just too good to be true--It's on Fridays if you get cable. Anyway, I have last Friday's tape in my hot little hand, and I am crazy with delight. Crazy, I say!! woohoo! Phill says, with an evil smile on his face,
"There are things that should not be gotten away with on Nicolodeon" to which I say, "Feh!!! It's good for them little kids!!! When I was their age I had lots of cartoony violence and roadrunner cartoons, and it didn't affect me at all!!!" *snaps pencil like a twig*
So I have movie time when I go home tonight...*twitch twitch!*

Japanese candy...
Apr. 16th, 2001 04:07 pmA coworker just got back fromJapan and brought with her candy for her office. the stuff I tried was "Milky" a cute little caramel-type candy that tasted like...milk. (No, really.) As I was sucking on the candy, I started thinking about other interesting asian candies I've been lucky to try. (Not all of them are Japanese, and some aren't strictly candy.)
Pocky: The classic chocolate or fruit-dipped pretzels. The name made me laugh, the candy was amazingly good.
Hello Kitty gum: The cola one was my favorite, though other people liked the fruit and melon flavors. The taste went away VERY quickly, but it was still fun to chew on..
Fruit Jellies!!! (I couldn't read the name, but they're all over the place.) Basically agar-jello with fruit juice and bits of fruit inside. Peach and lychee were the personal favorites, though grape was decent. My friend Shaun taught Bri and I to stick them in the freezer and gnaw on them once they were good and frozen. (Nummy!)
chocolate-covered peanuts. (Again, couldn't read the package, but it had a cute little peanut-bird-thing on the front.) Shaun gave me some for the airplane ride home from Osaka.
Plum candy. (I guess there's a few brands out there.) Mmmmmmmmmmmm....*suck suck suck*
Durian hard candy. (I'd had durian before, and COULD NOT FIGURE OUT if I liked it or not. Brian asked what it tasted like, and since I coudn't describe it with ease we bought some hard candy.)
The taste is a really weird one for Western palates like mine...it tasted like custard. Then onion. Then custard. It kept going back and forth, never settling on either the custard or the onion flavor.
Brian sucked the candy. I sucked the candy. "What do you think?" I asked him. "Ummm, I honestly don't know whether I like it or not!" he replied around the little yellow lump. We left most of the bag in the break room at my work. It disappeared eventually, so someone must have liked it...
Ms Eff, chattering away, no reason...I just like to...someday there will be depth, I promise...
