Various Weekendy stuff...

...I painted. and painted. and painted some more. Some of it didn't turn out very well, some of it was okay.
...I watched the rain come down and booted my own derriere for leaing my umbrella at work again.
...I started an ofrenda for my friend Alexis, since she has the endearing quality of loving everything I make. It's ahhh..got an eye peeking out of a wall. Me and those silly old eyeballs!
...I woke up in a start from these incredibly close !Booms! from outside.
Big thunders...very big thunders...
...I called various people, or hid from the phone.
...I took long walks.
...I saw my first albino squirrel ever. Coooooooool!
...I picked up a Time magazine about the WTC disaster and read it, quitely...sadly... (I'm keeping it for posterity.)
...I listened to too much Cocteau Twins at a go. Bad idea, someone said...
...I watched Invader Zim and laughed maniacally to myself.

You get the idea, I think....

It's very chilly this morning--zipped up the motorcycle jacket tight.
I get to test out Duchess Webb's hat pretty soon...

Almost forgot...

...This weekend a 4 year old girl got caught in the crossfire of a shooting
across from Gus Lucky's. She got hit in the leg, but will recover.

Dammit, it makes me so angry...At a time when we as a country really need to pull together we still have assholes taking potshots at each other and
making us unsafe from ourselves. It' pisses me off that I have to be ready to take a swing at somebody or duck into a doorway every time I go to a critique or an opening or something. (It doesn't mean I won't *do* it, rest assured I will be very careful, and usually am as a rule.)

That's right, every damn day of it, all 31of them.

This means each and every one of you had better pull a costume together by next Monday. I know it's short notice, but I know you can do it. I have faith in you all....and there will be treats, and grand suprises. I believe this will be a grand healing thing, and there's plenty of candles and sugar skulls for the ofrendas...

I was in the breakroom eating lunch, and mentioned to a coworker
that it wasn't exactly a "Schpedoinkal" day. He started and said,
"Did you say what I THOUGHT you just said?"
"Uh-huh..."
"You saw "Cannibal--the Musical?"
"Yes, I did!"
"I thought I was the only one here that ever saw it!!!"
"Nope!"

So of course we had to sing...
"The sky is blue and all the leaves are green;

Gee, I guess it is a Schpedoinkal day after all....
