We had a fire at my apartment complex yesterday. It took out an entire apartment on the 3rd floor. One person got treated for smoke inhalation, the rest of us are all shaky but okay. My unit's smokey, but okay...I've been airing it out most of the day and all night. At one point I ran down to Dunn Bros to use the phone and call my cousin, cursing because I had no socks on and my ankles were freezing. (I was lucky, the fire routed lots of people in their pajamas and there were many people in shorts.)
I called a lot of people, to let them know I was okay, and partially to hear their voices. I may have called you. *sheepish grin* I probably sounded pretty freaked out. And I was. I still am, a little.
I'm really tired...had Red Bull for breakfast. I didn't sleep well last night. (Neither did anyone else, I'm sure.) But I'm grateful my apartment complex is all brick and concrete. My friend who was just above the fire is just fine, very little smoke damage, no fire damage. (the firemen kicked his door down, though.) If the fire was in the brownstones down the block the whole thing would have gone up--we saw melted metal oozing down the wall at one point.
I'm grateful everyone's okay.
And I sure am glad to see all of you.
