A breakdown of a lovely day...
Jun. 11th, 2002 08:26 am9:00 to 12:00...workity workity workity, with a pop-in visit from Aphonia. We agree to go have lunch at a deli down the street.
12-1:00 Lunchtime...fun, full of small but profound moments, gossip, woes, happiness, grumbling about the state of the arts and literature, etc. Back to work with a tummy full of cheese sammidges.
1:00 to 5:00 Workity workity. Scramble for a lipstick or something to look halfway presentable for a night out.
5:00-6:00pm Travelling to Grumpy's having to stop for directions twice. I find Ruby Slippers right away, we order drinks, scrounge a table, gossip, carouse a bit, wolf down burgers and fries, alarm the crewcut kids down the table from us.
8:00 We head in to the tiny alleyway structure that houses the film. We talk some more and wait...and wait... and wait...
9:15 Various friends and coworkers show up, just as the films start. It's all the Bros Quay's early stuff before they switched to 35mm. I'd never seen most of it, though Emily plays some on the big screen at First Ave some nights. (Memo to myself--must go to the Ave when she's working!!!)
11:00 A big thunderstorm starts up; we decide to leave. *sob* G'bye, los bros Quay!! Chase down busy server for card. Run out to the Ghettocar in the rain.
11:15 Get home, find a UPS note for my Lush goop, leave note of my own to drop it at the office. Run into what I suspect is my friend Jen's now ex-boyfriend in the hall. Close all the damn windows to keep the hail outside where it belongs. Fall into bed......
Not bad for a Monday, huh?:)
