I'm going Downtown, Daddy-o...

*stretccch*

It's good to be home. My trip to Chicago with friends was a blast, though; a really interesting time.

Various highlights include:

Emily reading us exerpts from "The World's Most Dangerous Places" in the car,
(Algeria: "You'd be safer in Mogadishu running down the street naked wearing 10 gold Rolexes and a stars-and-stripes cape.")

Playing on the playground at one of the rest stops. Nothing gets out the soreness in the legs and butt than a good turn on the swingsets.

Trains!!! Trains!!! TRAINS!!!
(heh, I like trains. yes, I'm crazy.)

The Chicago Theatre: Indescribably beautiful. With very high balconies.
(I have a touch of vertigo, so I grabbed onto my seat for dear life once I was in it.)

Nick Cave...*smiles broadly*
And I thought Tom Waits was a great showman. Unbelievably good.

The tall Kramer-from-Seinfeld-looking-guy who was always right in front of short me.
(I kept having to move my head back and forth to see the stage. Happily Nick Cave moves around a lot.) He and his date were very very cute together, however, so it's hard to hold a grudge.

Bolting two soft tacos while waiting for the train back, trying not to smell all the urine at the station... We were all *very* tired on the way back.

Driving tour of Chicago in the morning, including looking at the lovely Chicago library and various daredevil-photo-shots by Ben the neighbor.

Shopping in the Alley at Boystown. Wow, what a great part of town!! Many strange happy things were bought, including Ben's gigantic rubber-spiked boots.

Twin Peaks in the car

Knitting in the car.

Dirty Limericks in the car.

Getting home an hour and a half early with more gas in the tank than we expected.:)

All in all, lots of fun. Next time I go, I'll take more time to see everything, but we had a really great outing anyway. Chicago's pretty damn interesting!!!
