Quality time with a screwdriver...
Oct. 20th, 2005 06:25 amI spent a quiet evening cooking, eating and washing up after a large pot of spaghetti. I loafed on the couch with the remnants of American Gods. And then I got brave and replaced the leather bit on my spinning wheel. I think it would have been really funny if someone was watching, since at one point I was hanging my head upside-down to see the screw I needed, muttering "Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty...is that right? Oh crap, that's the other way." and "Wow, that piece is really beat up, isn't it?" and "Come on you little bastard, I know you fit; I saw you fit!" But all the fiddling paid off. My spinning wheel is a much smoother ride now, and I spent five minutes happily treadling and watching the drive belt not fall off...now I can tell Giselle at Knitting Night when she asks me about the wheel, "Yes! Yes I got brave and tampered with it and now we can play with it until we pass out from glee!"
Drat, I think I sprained my wrist from patting myself on the back:)
