Cupcakes for the neighbors...

Earlier last night I scooted over to Ben and Peaty's to get an egg for some cupcakes I was baking. I had just taken them out of the oven when I heard Ben, Peaty, Rocky and Leslie outside, picking basil before it froze overnight. So I piled a handful of hot cupcakes on a plate and trotted outside, yelling, "Peatyyy! I've got your eggs back for you!" He gasped and said, "Omigawd! One of my chickens lays CUPCAKES!!!"
Heeheehee...
It really wasn't a bad way to spend the last of another September 11...I thought about putting up one of the posts I did that day, but then thought better of it. Maybe it's enough to try to fix whatever we can, to fight whenever it's sensible, to watch the sun go down and share baked goods with the neighbors and be grateful individually and concerned generally...
I'm just glad at the moment we're all here, in one form or another.
