Happy Tax Day...
Apr. 15th, 2010 07:32 amFor some reason, every April 15th I feel a little relieved that I've got my taxes out of the way. It hovers over me like a stern teacher, waiting to know if I'd done my homework...
And on my way to work I'll be passing the downtown post office, where there's usually protesters and music and stuff in front of the line of people filing today. Last year I remember someone in a chicken suit running around with a big misspelled sign about no taxes and whatnot. I'm a big fan of street-theatre, but the message has always struck me as naive. And of course, now we have the slavering hordes of Tea-Baggers out there too. (I keep giggling horribly whenever the term comes up. My sense of humor is apparently permanently stuck on age 12.) I know this is an observation that's hardly new, but whenever I've seen a bunch of these people out in a public place, the mood always seems just a shade away from something violent. I just hope everybody sticks to chicken suits and misspelled signs again this year...
I'm just glad I did my bit to pay off the revenuers...you should see the size of the potholes down the way. Deep enough to swallow the cars, I tellya...
