A short list of unrelated things...

I have this crick in my neck that just won't go away. I keep trying to stretch it out, and it's no good. *crick* Ow. *crick* Ow...

This is my last full week at the Mines for a little bit--I'll be taking off some time for Halloween, mostly being at home and carving pumpkins and throwing candy at small children. How I love this time of year..

My smoke alarm was actually fixed! Fixed by someone who knew what they were doing! I nearly fell over from the shock of it all...

I finished a scarf made out of Shamu-fluff. It's cloud-soft and soft charcoal gray,mixed with some black merino and purple bamboo and such. Still haven't taken pictures, though...


More later, when I'm out of the worky-fog. But I hope things are well...

I love Island Time...

I just got home, over an hour after I'd left work. But it's all because of Island Time. Island time takes at least twice the normal time it would take you to get anywhere because you run into your neighbors and catch up on the gossip...

So this evening I rode the bus home with my neighbor Rocky, and told him about the new handyman and whatnot. He was trying to keep a baguette in his backpack without smushing it, and failing most entertainingly. We trotted home and waited, waited, and waited some more for the freight train to go by. I also hit a divot of grass by the playing field and fell over, which made me twice as happy that Rocky was there. I immediately wobbled back up and squeaked, "I'm fine, just fine!" After gleefully speculating about suing the high school to which the divot belonged, we made it to Meryn and Loren's house. They're almost done moving out, which makes me terribly sad, but this didn't keep up from digging around in their free pile. Meryn came out and we hung out on her front porch for a bit, talking about the island and moving and various free-pile objects. Tomorrow night they're bringing over their fire pit as a gift for me. I'm touched beyond words...

So now I'm home with a slightly wobbly ankle, baking pizza and feeling really lucky...
