Plumbing angst...
Dec. 10th, 2010 09:37 amI'm a little shaky and fretful. I flushed the toilet this morning, and instead of the water shutting off, the back cistern just kept filling...and filling...and filling! I bailed until I could get the level low, and got the water shut off. Well, mostly shut off, now it's a dribble, and I've bailed the cistern dry. I called my manager, who assures me someone will be arriving to fix it...before two o clock. Meh. I had plans, but I can't really leave the house with a plumbing problem--what it the damn thing floods? I don't have water-wings for Shamu! Maybe I can make him a little paddle-boat while I'm waiting...
Plumbing problems always give me the shakes after the massive flooding I had in a different apartment. The stupid handymen put in new faucets, upside down, stuck a plug in the sink, turned the water on and left. I came home several hours later to find my place totally waterlogged. The shrieking was probably heard in space...
This isn't nearly as bad--I just have to sit tight, check the water levels from time to time, ignore the hissing coming from the pipe and wait for help. At least our new handyman seems to know his stuff. Help me, Handyman, you're my only hope...
