Today had some crazy energy at the Mines...I had to defend the honor of one of the very nice counter-ladies at the coffeeshop from a horrible, horrible woman. This woman threw a ginormous hissy-fit when she was informed that the coffeeshop didn't take checks. (Does anyone use checks to pay for food anymore? I don't think I have in a decade or so.) She called the poor counter-girl every name in the book, and accused her of lying, acting and other bizarre acts. I'm pretty sure she was having a scene so she wouldn't have to pay for her meal, since she picked a busy time to act out. I called the Captain, and we stood very close to this woman, grinning slightly and being sinister in our polyester finery. It didn't really stop her in the least--that's how crazy this lady was. I did manage to keep her away from the counter-girl when the crazy-lady kept getting condiments and trying to catch the poor girl alone. The only person she saw was me, smiling slightly with raised eyebrows and my radio up to my lips. Meh heh heh...

Then of course the crazy lady tried to pester the ladies of the gift shop, but kept seeing me looking at her from a distance, smiling politely. I think it put a damper on her plans. Good. I dislike bullies. It brings out my inner Brian Blessed. Happily I didn't wave a large club around yelling and smiting things horribly, but man, did I think about it. Hard.

Anyway, I've been told I can have free coffee whenever I want, because of my skilled stink-eye.
I'm oddly proud of this. Also, the Gaily-Waily had a very pretty little teapot for me, as well as those cute tea-flowers I like so much. She isn't big on tea, and knows I collect teapots. So now I feel the universe has rewarded me handsomely for keeping the horrible lady from doing horrible things...that's not such a bad thing.
