I'm pretty groggy today...I fell asleep early while reading a book, woke up a few hours later and couldn't get back to sleep for a while. I kept missing Tacitus.
(A roommate's kitty who was the best teddy-bear I ever had, the drooly lunk.)
When I finally drifted off again I dreamed of an old boyfriend in this confused tangle of sadness and frustration, and a tv that showed old family photographs, and a carnival/street party. (I actually dream of street carnivals a lot, usually huge loud ones with Heart of the Beast puppets and dragon kites and skeleton dancers and all kinds of surreal thing going on. I love those dreams so much.)
I'm almost done with a couple of smallish projects...heh heh heh....
I found in my mailbox yesterday a tract written by another right-wing Christian group using September 11th to get new followers in Christ. Pretty offensive stuff.
It is now confetti in the bottom of my trash can. *siiiiiiiigh*
Ms Eff, of to go find more cawfee...tawlk amongst yerselves...Here's a topic: The Christian Right is neither Christian, nor right...Discuss.

Date: 2001-12-12 07:29 am (UTC)Speaking of drooly kitties....my fat kitty was drooling the other day while Kevin was petting her. *L* I've never ever seen a cat drool before. I was really grossed out. She was laying on her side with a look of ecstasy in her eyes and a couple drops of drool on the couch cover.

Date: 2001-12-12 08:03 am (UTC)Every summer, as the larger ones come through town, I have to find friends of mine that I trust completely, to go with me... otherwise, I'll take off to the road again. Hell, even when I went with My Muse and His Wife this past August, I was still "talking business" with the owner of the carnival... making arrangements for myself, if I wanted to run off again.
Maybe somebody should handcuff me to them when we go. *evil grin*

Re:

I thought you already knew this about me. Yeah, I ran away with the carnival a few summers ago. It started off as just a few spots in the area while I still worked my chef-ing job, and then when it came time for them to leave for 3 weeks.... I WANTED TO GO!!! *POUT!*
I asked them if I could, and told my chef-ing job that I'd be out of town for three weeks. I knew that if I was supposed to be doing carnival, that I would know by the end of the three weeks.
WELL..... I ended up staying with the carnival through the end of the season, quit my chef-ing job, and traveled up and down the Mid-Atlantic as a forewoman for a major ride. (This is highly rare!! And a major ride is a ride that any adult can ride.)
The sites that we were going to, the guys were pissed and gave me a lot of shit because I was a female that had her own major ride. Most of the time, you only see women running games or kiddie rides, and well... I didn't want that. So, I started by helping out on the Big Swings (setting up, tearing down, running the ride), until finally, it was just given to me to be the forewoman of!! I had the best time with that!! :D They guys on the lot were PISSED!!!! (Then again, they had a hard time w/the fact that by the end of the season... our entire crew was women. ;) )
The days were long, the work was hard, the sleep was deminishing by the minute, and the partying was intense!! I knew when I hit my third week on the road, that "nothing was going to be the same" in my life... and I was right. I can't see a carnival without some sort of longing.... or go to a carnival and not "talk shop"... or even look at a ride without figuring out the year of the ride (like a car enthusist).
The day that I went up to the highest point on the lot at my third site, and realized that nothing was ever going to be the same again.... was also the day that I made plans to get one of my tattoos. The next day, I showwed up to the lot about 2 hours early and got the Chinese character for "Life" tattoo'd on the back of my head (right over the medula oblongata (the control center of the brain for all involutary functions)).
"NOTHING will ever be the same again."

*giggles*
Yeah... that's it... "well-rounded"! ;)
