Oh wow, oh cool!

I just talked to the A/V guys that taped my voice reading off a list of neighborhood names for an exhibition here. They told me that my voice was the only one they didn't have to edit at all. (And my coworkers who volunteered for the project are all *very* good speakers.)

They're also told me I should consider getting into the field of voice-acting, and recommended sending tapes around. I haven't a clue where to start, and neither does A/V, really. But the encouragement was really warming. I'm thinking about it. (Couldn't hurt to research it a little, and it could be fun.)

So, anybody got a cartoon character without a voice? Hah? Hmm? Hah? C'mon, somebody, pay me to talk!!! *Jumps up and down*

I've received a number of suggestions, from "get an agent" to "write something you can record, you idiot."

I have a few voice reels I borrowed from jathomas, who's an animator. And since jimmyether is a professional recording engineer who records voice as part of his day to day job, he's given me some suggestions, too. He's also the one with the studio in his basement (where we record), so I have time.

If I got permission to make a copy, would you want to hear those reels?

There is a class at Open U that is for getting started in the voice over biz...I would recommend it.
