Feb. 15th, 2002 09:40 am... in 1595, Saint Windiculus the Eternally Clumsy had a nasty fall down a winding flight of stairs, clutching the newest attempt at making what would eventually be known as the corn-dog. (His earlier attempts, made with various wheat flours, were interesting but apparently lacked something in his opinion.)
He was canonized on the spot, and small bronze statues of the culinarily devoted monk still exist in many corn-dog wagons as corn-dog vendors believe the small effigies bring them luck.....
