A coworker and I were remembering all the things we did with our toys--beheading Barbie, dressing GI Joe in the Barbie prom dress,
making Boba Fett place nice with the Holly Hobby dollies...we laughed ourselves silly at lunch...I told someone about the Zombie Barbie I made with Frankenstein stitches that stalked and attacked other dolls...

What weird things did you do with whatever toys you had?

I never liked dolls as a little girl... and I never wanted a Barbie... but my aunt gave me one anyway when I was like 11 or 12 or something... so I gave her a really bad hair cut (for some reason, Barbie wouldn't sit still or somethin' cause that damned cut was SO not even... lol) and her toes were freakishly long so I cut them off... LOL... I prolly would have cut her boobs off too except they were made of hard plastic... *giggle*

hehe... sick thing is, my daughter really likes barbie... so I can't say too many bad things about her, although I do discourage whenever possible and I don't allow her to have a bunch of barbie stuff... thankfully my daughter also really likes big ass trucks and John Deer tractors too... *giggle* :)

My GI Joe didn't come with a French Resistance black sweater, so I had to make him one out of an old black sock...

That's good, the Barbie-limiting...though when she gets older I should send off a copy of "Barbie unbound" with "teenage pregnancy Barbie" "Barbie Degeneres" "J. Edgar Hoover Ken"and "Barbie Boss from hell" and such...you'd love it, it's hilarious!

LOL... I think I will! :)

I'm not too worried about Barbie influencing her views of what women should be/are too much... she lives with myself and my mother, both strong, capable, smart, independant women who do all the jobs around the house regardless of whether they are traditionally male roles or not... :) I think the fact that Caitlin really wants to be a fire fighter, an astronaut, a vetrinarian, a dancer, a singer, an artist and a mommy all speak to her knowing that being a female doesn't mean she has to accept limits... :)

When I was leetle leetle girl, I used to write my name on the foreheads of all my dollies. Yes, even Holly Hobby.

Then, when I realized that dollies just weren't doin' it for me... I started taking everything apart to see how it worked. Sometimes reassembly was successful, sometimes... well, not-so-much. But now I'm not afraid to take anything apart... except, well... maybe my cat.

I believe no truer words were ever said. ;D

But electronic toys... a totally different thing altogether.

And yes, I =do= have an amazing grasp of the obvious, thanks for noticing... ;)

I liked Barbie... :D My best friend Line (Lee-neh, not line *lol*) and I dressed up our Barbies as soldiers and spies and whatever and played war in the bushes in her grandparent's garden:) Funfunfun:)
Besides that I don't really think I did anything really weird... I loved all my toys so much, and I kinda believed that they were actually alive, so I didn't have the heart to do anything mean to them:) When I was about 6-7 I had this thing with always kissing my teddy bear good night - but then I figured my other toys would get jealous, so naturally I had to kiss them too:) In the end I had a 30 minutes long ritual every night - I kissed everything from my teddy to the floor and the ceiling....LoL
Now wait -- that is weird! *laughs ass off* I also had this thing with always doing the same thing with my left hand as I did with my right hand... I gave it up pretty soon though, as I'm very right-handed LoL

It's funny how rituals seem so instictively ingraned, huh?:)
I used to kiss all the bears too. *sheepish grin*

Kissing bears is pretty common I think - but kissing your bed, your closet, and even your underwear???? :)
