msfledermaus...and a bag of groceries, ceramics, various bath goops and an embarrasingly large assortment of tea later, I feel a lot better.
I also got a magazine I ordered online--very do-it-yerself without the scary Martha Stewart overtones. Of course I'm very enthusiastic about trying a few of the projects...maybe too enthusiastic. After about 10 minutes of me cackling like a maniac over the phone a friend of mine was blubbering to make it stop. Heh. Heh heh...
