... I had this awful anxious dream and then spent an hour fighting off an anxiety attack at 5 am. Granted, there's plenty to be anxious about. The political situation, my ever-stressful work, getting some art stuff take care of, freezing my butt off outside. And there's a rapist whose last attack was in my neighborhood--mostly attacks at night when women are going to their cars. Sounds like the cops are patrolling a *lot* and have policewomen decoys out...but most of us at work, male and female are a little nervous. I've been quietly practicing all the self-defense stuff I've learned over the years--yell like crazy, punch kick gouge and bite, start gagging and pretend to throw up or pretend to start a seizure to buy yourself a few seconds to run. I think it spilled over into my dreams.

I was thinking of going out this weekend, but the cold is making that very unappetizing. Maybe it'll be a nice inside weekend. I can work some more on the Spooky Dollhouse or something.

I think I'm probably okay; this guy's going after people with a smaller build than mine. It's my younger coworkers I'm worried for. But you never know, huh?

I'm hoping this guy makes a big mistake and goes for one of the decoy cops and gets his nuts kicked all the way to Canada.

"yell like crazy, punch kick gouge and bite, start gagging and pretend to throw up or pretend to start a seizure to buy yourself a few seconds to run." Don't forget the old GREAt stand-by- PEEEEEEE YER PANTS!! (Let the stain show) LOL!

Seriously, we have the mug sketch up here (Looks like a million men out there) and as neighbors, we'll be watching too. Take care and be safe. *ANOTHER GREAT TIP IF YOU ARE ATTACKED*: If you yell...DON'T yell for "HELP!" I know it comes natural but what you want in an attack is for people to come to your aid. MOST people these days RUN away when they hear HELP! cause they are afraid for their own safety. (Understandable) If you are ever attacked and in ear shot of people yell FIRE!!!!!! I know it sounds dumb but you will get a quicker response especially if you are in a parking lot with a lot of cars around. Think about it.....and be safe. I've worked in the security field for over 20 years and have seen a LOT! Have a NICE warm day. =O)

There must've been something going on in the Cosmos last night.... I also woke up in a panic/anxiety "attack". (Not full fledged, but... close enough for gov't work.)

Hope things calm down for you, sweetie!

Good stuff to know...I had some self-defense training, and they too recommended the "Fire" instead of "Help"

Cool that you've worked in security..me too.

COOL!!! LOVE COP & SECURITY STORIES!! One question comes to mind: Did YOU catch him???? LOL! I've got a LOT of interesting stories. How about the "CAKE THIEF" who was also a janitor. He helped himself way too many times to the sweets and was caught SWEET HANDED on video. He wanted his cake and eat it too & he wanted to keep his job. Well, he got to have his cake and he ate it...but the job went bye bye. Funny thing is he was seen on video WIPING HIS PRINTS from the refridge door handle. I was in hysterics! I later told Curtis "that was a VERY EXPENSIVE piece of cake you had there!" LOL!! You should go see the new movie NATIONAL SECURITY. I plan on it. =O)

The Pantsless jogger was just that--pantsless:) He'd go jog around the garden around midnight in t-shirt and shorts, then duck behind a bush and come back out in just the t-shirt and the running shoes. Hilarious. He seemed oblivious to the cameras, and always ignored us blaring over the loudspeakers to put his stupid shorts pack on... We'd call the park police, they'd bust him, and he'd usually be back the next week.

Security cameras are fun, aren't they? I got to see Hale-Bopp really well through one of them when I was working Control at night. that cake tape sounds just amazingly funny.!! (Ummm...mister, the prints were the least of your worries...*snicker*)

He'd better...This sunovabitch is up to 4 attacks in a month. I hope he gets his ass kicked by a mob of pissed-off people if he ever shows his sorry face again...and we have a composite drawing, so we all know what he looks like.

Was just thinking....you said you worked with video cameras. You know we are always anticipating openings (Mostly part time but you never know FT hours COULD pop up any time). I don't know all about your job BUT, from the sounds of it...they don't treat you that good. Maybe you should consider the possibility???
Think about it. =O)

Well currently my job is running a mailroom and taking care of about 200 people and fixing the copiers and faxes and whatnot.

I started at WAC as a gallery guard, years ago. when they dicovered I had a brain, I was trained in the Control room--Reception plus Security and dock control all rolled into one package. I became the unofficial day shift manager, watching about 14 cameras, doing paperwork , processing visitors and routing calls. I'd score some overtime, which made the job attractive though as a contract worker (along with the rest of security) we didn't have any health insurance.

That's why I took the mailroom job, because it paid a bit better and offered benefits they would never give me in my "unofficial" status.

If something does open up, I'd be willing to have a look at it; couldn't hurt. and I'll keep your copiers running, too:)

I'll definetly keep ya posted. Our supervisor (GREAT GUY!!) is salivating for good people. The pay is very good and the benefits are good too. Another good thing is we are safe from City cuts as we are the only animal of it's kind the city has so no bumping either. Have a GREAT DAY! =O)

I still have it a bit these days...took forever to get to sleep last night, even with warm milk and a hot bath. Granted I *did* nap for about 3 hours that afternoon:)

I know we're all looking for this creep, so I'm hoping he'll get stupid and get caught.
