I didn't do a DAMN thing for Mardi Gras. Not one damn thing.

I just stayed in bed with a book and had panic attacks about the state of the world and me in it. Worrying about an ancient coworker in the hospital for pneumonia, (she's 94...wowww!) and my family and the potential death of loved ones and my life and Dubya and North Korea and Tim-Bloody-Pawlenty and Big Brother
and smallpox vaccinations and needing new glasses and someday I should be an adult and buy some decent furniture or at least make some....worry worry worry fret fret fret.....

Feh. That's not right, being so wound-up about life that you forget to enjoy things that won't always be there. So I, Ms Fledermaus, Queen of Mausiland, do hereby swear to go out of my way to appreciate the things in life that aren't scary or potentially civiliation-destroying. I vow to be quiet, dammit, and have a nice cup of tea and colm the hell down so I can think clearly and appreciate things more.

It's what Mr Rogers would have wanted, I think.

Awwwwww....sorry ya feel soooo ICKY! Take heart. "Pawlenty of Dubya" can only last for a small amount of time. I keep watching the calendar, hoping that November 04 gets here FAST. In the mean time, grab a sweater out of the closet, kick up your feet, grab a good book, sip your favorite hot beverage and REEEEEELAAAXXXX. =O) Mr. Rogers would have wanted it that way. =O)

I am Jack's gratefulness

it's important to get up and out there or else everything passes by and you end up feeling completely outside and seperate from the whole world.

I didn't do anything for Mardi Gras except drink a hot lemonade w/ brandy for my cold.

There is political hope, though: I got to hear a speech by Gov. Jim Doyle of Wisconsin this AM on the UW campus. It was about growing the life sciences industry. His comments were very forward looking and progressive and intelligent, but what does he have to spend his time on? the 3.2 billion deficit. So, when the show was over, the ABC TV station asks him about economic development, no, they ask him about the Repugnican challenge to his veto of the legislature's attempt to derail the Indian gaming compacts (I guess they're kind of like treaties in a way). The Repugnicans are heavily-influenced by the Tavern League, which wants to limit Indian Casinos and allow gambling in bars. Both the Assembly and Senate are Republican-controlled, but Doyle's veto was sustained by one vote. As a result, the three tribes will give the state $247 million and retain 20,000 jobs in Mausiland. I didn't hear one question about building up the biotechnology/life sciences industry.

I've been following the gambling thing a bit, since people have been muttering about trying some of that here, too. and I didn't hear word one about the biotech industry...figures:( That sounds amazingly hopeful!

Very true...

Granted, it's still freezing out so it's very tempting to stay in and be warm:)

One of my justifications to my boss to let me work in Wisconsin was the chance of landing some biotech companies as clients... Now I must "make it so" I only have three new clients in Wisconsin (all non-biotech), so I am very dependent on traveling for work, which is good and sometimes bad... I am making some good contacts and volunteering for environmental, health & safety subcommittee work in the biotechnology assoc. We were supposed to meet for the first time Tuesday, but only two of us could make it.

I don't think there's any big or slightly big stars with their birthday the same day as me. I get jealous sometimes when I hear the people with the same birthdays as my friends.
