..I keep shaking my fist at the news and calling various politicians uncivil names, then pausing to make foghorn noises into my Kleenex. Gree-at, they're proposing to chop things like summer school now, and of course Arlon Lindner didn't even get a smack on the wrist for accusing gays of being behind the German concentration camps. I wonder when the "Load the poor and the sick and the old and the morally unacceptable in trucks and dump them in landfills" bill will pop up. Probably any day now. Enough to make anyone sick.

*Blows into Kleenex. Awhoooo-ga.*

Plus I keep listening to the news about the looted Iraqi museums...Pieces I studied in college, missing...possibly sold, or smashed beyond recognition. Sounds like none of them have turned up yet, at least where the public could hear about them.

*blows nose some more*

S'cuse me, I'm almost out of tissues. Back in a mo'...

I had read that at least some of the looters later regreted what they did and have been returning stolen items to the local religion leaders. I don't know if any of the returned items were from the museums, but there is some hope for them.

Cutting summer school!!??? What happened to: "Leave no child behind."??? The "powers" in washington are PATHETIC! BUT...HOORAY!! 70% are behind King George and his NEW WORLD ORDER.

As for having a cold...BE CAREFUL, THEY could load YOU up for the landfill if they THINK you might have SARS. WE can't have our mausey sittin on a pile of garbage honking her nose and knitting blankets for all the other Bush undesirables. YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!! *hands over a kleenex* =O)

There's a vivid image...

No SARS for me, it can't survive all the frenzied knittin'.:)
And the cold would get jealous.
I'm drinking lots and lots of juice and eating garlic and doing all the cold-things I'm supposed to...

I hope so...It really grieved me that the museums were looted and all the soldiers were at the oilfields. :(

Granted I work at a museum and I'm biased:/

I don't think you have to be too biased to see the value in priceles, irreplacable artifacts representing the area that Bush has kept saying is the birth of civilization. But even with all that lip service, he showed where his priorities were.

True fact, I never liked that swaggering git. Or his phony-ass war.

I hate feeling like we're all trapped in this Orwellian nightmare, even though we are:( minnesota's been pretty damn shocking lately too, just horrible. It's like chicago in the 30's when the mobs were running everything through the politicans. Now it's the corporations that are doing it...

I know what you mean. And to feel like we don't have any voice in it, and that the news organizations have been pertty much told to "be nice". I've been getting a lot more news from international sources and it is scary the things that aren't getting covered here.

What's really sad is how little he even seems to be trying to cover up all the crap he's pulling, and so few people are questioning it.

Yeah....It's really frightening. And the ones who do protest are unpatriotic snivelers who should be thrown in jail, yadda yadda yadda. I bet even the fifties was tame compared to this level of bullshit. Nixon would be laughing in his grave.

I never thought I'd see anything this awful, ever. I really honestly didn't. it still boggles the mind when I think of everything that's happened in the last 2 1/2 years.

I know. And the latest bill they want to pass will let them revoke citizenship from anyone for aiding the enemy or some undefined crap like that, and then lets them detain non-citizens indefinately.

Must be nice to rewrite years and years of civil liberties like that.

I'm just hoping that the country regains some sanity in time for the next election.

Hmmm...maybe we should start an expat colony.
Minnesotans are kind of unofficial Canadians anyway, so it wouldn't be too jarring for me:) Just think, we could lounge on a palazzio, drinking Moosehead and going, "How's it goin'eh?"

That's just crazy....these guys are just power-drunk and don't care who knows it. And Ashcroft is a hard-core wingnut. He lost to a DEAD guy in his home state, which gave him room in his busy schedule to fuck over America and make his employees sing that damn song he wrote, over and over...

I don't know what to expect anymore from this election, really I don't...we're in a tailspin, and I haven't a clue if we're gonna pull out or hit the ground:(

I'll just have to watch Strange Brew a few times to aclimatize myself.

Yeah, the whole losing to a dead guy was pretty impressive. Nothing like beign able to fail upwards.

I've gotta have hope for the next election, otherwise we are screwed. If Shrub does all this with a less then majority vote, just imagine what he could do if he actually wins an election. I justh ope the Democrats get off their asses and put up some people worth voting for.

Same here...without hope, any hope, there's nothing keeping me from running around screaming "War is peace! Freedom is slavery! Ignorance is strength!" and getting hauled off by the cops.

Pllease, Pleaase, Dems get us someone worth voting for!

I've had some hope since one of the commentators on the war was a retired general that I read a little bit about. He was one of the few that were speaking well, not against the war, but kinda perpendicular to it. He sounded impressive from what I read and there were a lot of talk about him being the next Democrate nominee, which would be good. He looked impressive enough to vote for.

It's certainly a thought...an ex-general is about the only guy who would cut any ice here anymore; we're such a military-obsessed country now....

sheesh, sounds like I'm talking about Poland in the 80's instead of America...how scary is that?

Very scary.

And with Bush and friends trying to buy more voters push through another ill concieved tax cut, whoever runs will have some work cut out for him.

I don't envy the poor slob...what a nightmare to have to try to fix, with all the Republicans doing their best to hamstring and backstab whoever gets the post....the horror..

Heehee, I hear the Right Wing's mobilizing to stop Hillary Clinton from running, even though she keeps saying she doesn't intend to run for Prez. spending tons of money and everything....

Yeah, between all the civil rights that have been wronged, the economy that is limping along, and having lost the respect of most of the rest of the world, the next president will have a very tough time.

Heheh... It doesn't surprise me that they are doing their best to stop her. She was practically president last time :) I wasn't really a fan of hers, but compared to Shrub, she is definately the lesser evil.
