Happy fourth, people:)
Jul. 4th, 2003 01:16 pmThis is a pretty somber fourth for me...I have my "War Sucks" t-shirt on today.
I haven't been watching tv or listening to the radio since I'd be sure to hear Dubya's voice pontificating about the grandness of our vision for the Middle East and some smarmy tough-guy rhetoric on top, just for the holiday.
:/
I'm off to the grocery store to buy potato salad and corn-dogs. It isn't a summer holiday without a corn-dog somewhere.

Date: 2003-07-04 12:58 pm (UTC)Anything describing independence appeals to me, but King George is long gone. The fight is over.
I hate to be put in the Bush/Conservative Republican/rah rah camp.
I don't even buy stamps with flags on them because of that.
I smiled to see the Statue of Liberty on the Google page. Maybe I should concentrate on some S of L stuff I have.
When I was in Germany I thought about love of country. I met wonderful people there but knew that I really do want to be an American.
A day to ponder.

It'll be all right some day, if we all work on it.
I really hope this'll be true someday.
