...Longish day today, even though it really wasn't that bad. I did have to explain what "B.C" "A.D" and "C.E" were to someone working on a college art course. *sighs hard.* I'd find it funnier if I didn't have to explain this at least twice a week to people over 18. I mean, didn't everyone get this in middle school history, or even earlier? I know I did...

If I weren't such a consummate professional I would just obey my inner impulses and just make something really stupid up to tell people. Hmmmm..."Okay, now--BC is the abbreviation of Before Charles In Charge, AD is an abbreviation for After Any Domino's Pizza, and CE is short for Certain Eeeeeeeevil...You got that? Writing it down? Excellent, excellent..." Heh heh hehhhh...

I bet you guys could come up with something even stupider--I mean, funnier. C'mon, help me edumacate the masses!!

Umm.... I know the BC and AD ones, but my pathetic history skills are falling short on CE. I blame it on the fact that it has been far too long for me since middle school history, and I probably slept through those classes anyway.

For some reason, I want to say it is specific to the period of time as shown in the movie Army of Darkness, but I doubt that is the official designation.

Good- that makes me feel better. I am not alone in my ignorance of the Ms. Mausi information :)

Common Era, to replace AD (to elimate the Christocentric bias in time-reckoning, especially when applied to non-Christian cultures)

there's also BCE (Before Common Era) to replace BC

I learned BC and AD long ago--maybe BFE. (Before forgetting everything.)

I learned BCE then, as I was more acquainted with Jewish people and reading because they used it instead of the BC and AD.

Why, thank you, sir...I should have posted clarifications on the CE thing, since people are still getting used to the term...
