...It was astonishingly beautiful waling to the bus this morning. The sun looked like a silver coin with the clouds streaming across it...
Now my head is full of this kind of thing. I spent the morning reading through my new copy of "Women and the Surrealist Movement" that a dear friend bought for me to replace the one that didn't make it through my old apartment flooding. I kept it out of pure stubbornness, even though I couldn't open most of the pages anymore since they were stuck together. It was that good a book. Now I have a new copy I should throw out the old one, or at least cannibalize it for cool pictures.MUAHAHAHAHA! (ahem: that was Captain Emily doing that last Muahahaha....I went to punch in and she slipped me a mickey after I asked her not to. She is evil and I love her.I'm sure it was the cannibalizing bit that sent her over the edge.)
Anyway, we were just talking about painting, Emily and I. Our own paintings. She hasn't been painting much--too much work. Neither have I, the same excuse in one form or another. We don't show our work much...mostly because the vast majority of galleries in town tend to be crooks of one stripe or another, and the ones that aren't tend to be the "Are you cool enough to showcase yourself in our fabulous gallery? Are you REALLY?" I know it sounds like excuses:/ We both should fine-tune our websites to show our more recent stuff...when we have more recent stuff:) Emily's a superb painter too; it kills me that she doesn't make more money from it. But we work in the grand tradition of women artists of the past; most of them never really painted for an audience, just for themselves. Heh, that sounds positively grandiose...for someone who eherm, hasn't painted anything good in months...
But I have some ideas again about things to paint...which is nice...
So there you are...
