Squooshy poetry alert!!!
Jun. 1st, 2001 02:46 pmYou're sitting in your kitchen
drinking coffee with the dregs
of sugar
from a source of quiet loneliness.
I'm sitting
by a counter full of postcards
of places I've never been to,
drinking green tea and lemongrass
from styrofoam,
and getting lipstick smeared around the rim.
She's sitting
in a cubicle
with pictures of her children, growing up
drinking coffee
from a slightly stained coffeecup, waiting for the clock to release her.
He's sitting
in an office with pictures of her, smiling at him.
Watching the clock to release him
so they can be together more, more, still more...
We're all sitting
in various chairs.
some swivel and spin, some are lumpy, plastic, or large overstuffed couches.
She thinks of coffee, of her daughter, of him.
He thinks of his bills, of his happiness, of her.
You think of someone you loved, dead and gone..
I think of you.
drinking coffee with the dregs
of sugar
from a source of quiet loneliness.
