...I'm kind of addicted to the Opinion page of the local newspaper. I've been noticing the evolution of the local opinion page of the Star-Trib since they got their Gumpian (as in Forrest-Gump-like) makeover last year.

*Rant software engaged*

Pretty depressing stuff, really--lots more in the way of conservative pundits blustering about no, really our President is a misunderstood man who has our best interests at heart, really he is... that new tax and all those people drowning and dying and whatnot, well, that could happen to any presidency. And the Rich are misunderstood, too, just ask any of my friends, really ace people they are, they only beat and imprison the illegal immigrant help no one knows about, honest...

*/rant

David Brooks had a particularly good rant in the Sunday section today...about how the lower-middle-class Boomers are just lazy and immoral compared to the rich who Worked Damn Hard for the Money. In case you haven't read it, I thought I'd sum it up for you in Haiku:

How dare you sick proles
loaf around in your squalor?!?
That's the rich man's job!

Rich people work more
than you stupid peasant plebes--
That is just so wrong.

We rich are bastions
of sweet, sure morality
Until we get caught...

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week, tip moneys go in the coffee can on the sidewalk, thank you...

One of my favorite things to do, is pick up a local paper when we're in a particularly conservative area and peruse the editorials. I get all soap boxy and stuff afterwards. It's a blast.
