Mai Village was wonderful...
Nov. 19th, 2006 12:50 pm..and no, I didn't have a Mai-tai. I did eat enough beef to be nearly immovable for the rest of the night. Mooooooooooooooo...
Otherwise, I'm looking forward to not having to be around Lots of People for a couple of days. I enjoy people immensely, I really do. I like parties and visits and everything. It's the keeping an eye on the Hideously Rude Unwashed (often snootily rich) Masses and making them behave in public part that gets old. I was talking to a friend at dinner last night and saying, "Don't get me wrong, I like humanity in general, it's just that general humanity is also breathtakingly dumb...and I'm putting myself in this category too--very emphatically." (I do, too--you should see the dumbassery I'm capable of. Wowwwww...)
Anyway, to sum up: Days off are good. I think they'll be pretty quiet. Good thing too, since I'm visiting people or having dinner or going to social stuff for at least 3 days straight that I can think of. Meanwhile, I'll plow through the workies and try to be kind about dumb things. I will be patient when people ask "Where are the Dinosaurs?" and, surrounded by hundreds of Japanese and Chinese artworks on paper and silk, demand, "But where are the PAINTINGS?!" I'll just try to conjure up all the dumb or weird or just insane things I do they don't know about. I still have two baby dolls at home to goth-out...I'm thinking of Siamese Twining them together. Dim-witted, sure, but satisfying on so many levels...
