...Actually, it wasn't so bad. I had my first Union meeting with management and the reps yesterday, and everything was pretty amicable. Then Captain Emily and I spent some time eating Vietnamese sandwiches, shopping for little french-roast coffee makers and watching Divine run around in hot pants in "Female Trouble."
Then we both slogged off into the cold for the Arty Co-op meeting...which was a bit long, but interesting. I was a bit grateful to go home and soak up the warmth of the Maushaus, though...

And I started the silly fluffy Austin Powers-style nighty, in black and blue fun fur and blue angora. I am the happiest yarn-nerd I know...

Good luck in your union doings. "Fight the Power!"

What union is it? the Guild of Art Guardians of Minnesota and Elsewhere (GAGME)? I was elected a kitchen steward in the Memorial Union Labor Organization (MULO, spanish for Mule) back in the day.

It's SEIU, and so far I've seen they have a good rep generally. They're about to have a great big janitor's strike here in the TC.

I've heard good things about the SEIU and I don't blame them for splitting off from the AF of L/CIO. They seem to be less hung up on the Guild mentality and more on helping all workers.

I'l have to show you our old union newsletter from way back some time. I used to be quite the organizer. I even know some union songs and I've walked in picket lines, even though we never went on strike during my tenure.

I'll have to keep posted on the janitor's strike. I don't want to cross any picket lines. I wish them luck.
