I love you, Deer...
Mar. 3rd, 2008 07:55 pmI just finished making some venison steaks with egg noodles and mushrooms and such. A nice comforting meal on a cold long day...I love venison so much. My dad went hunting this year, so they brought me steaks when they came by for Valentine's Day. I have enough in the fridge to still do some kind of really nice venison stew, I think. Cold weather makes me happy to cook, even when I'm tired...
But I can feel Spring trying to sneak forward through the ice and snow. My mind keeps offering me little projects I can do, in bright colors. My cow-irker April an I want to start a zine called Area 51, complete with bad advice columns and cartoons and whatnot. Immediately my weary brain started remembering all the fun I had with my old zines, so we chattered happily away about cool ideas and layouts and collages and such. The whole idea of having a zine again to play with made me feel ten years younger:) Especially when it involves having some fun with work, when it's been kind of dreary lately. Don't get me wrong; I like my job a lot. I think the weather's just got us all at our crabbiest, and it shows in our tempers lately. It'll be good to have something to laugh about that's creative and fun...
Now I think I'll work on the two-headed gutcreature another cow-irker of mine wanted, speaking of creative and fun. I *love* making the thing, even though getting the heads on just right was a tad fiddly. Soon I can fill it with yarny guts and laugh maniacally the whole time:)
