For some reason lately, small rudenesses from the public at the Jade Mines has really started to piss me off way out of proportion to their crimes. Yesterday we had some jerkoff who kept putting little business cards on the bases of sculptures after I very firmly told him this was something he Really Should Not Do. I was incensed. I wanted to get other guards to hold him down while I made him eat all the business cards while his girlfriend would look on and cry. What was worse was that we had allllll his contact information, because that's what he was going for in the first place. Sadly, as I am a guard, I cannot pester the man online like he so richly deserves, because it would be wrong. Poor Captain Emily had to talk me down from my frothing at the mouth. See? Totally out of proportion. I suspect I'm burning out a little. I just have this horrible hunger for some kind of fairly immediate justice that just isn't possible in our complex world...failing that, I want to smack people with large knitting needles. I keep telling myself it's not a good thing to get known as the Knitting Needle Vigilante...that kind of overdeveloped sense of vengeance can get me into trouble someday...

Even technology mocks me lately. I was trying to send myself photos I took with my cellphone, and everything seemed to work fine...so where are the pictures? Not in my inbox, I can tell you that. Humph. Dang old technology, I tell you what...humph humph. Gonna go be a hermit on an island and stuff...oh, wait, already there, huh? *sheepish grin*

At least I have a nice big fat parade to look forward to today... When I get off work, I'm meeting Ben and Peaty at Brit's to hang out and drink Guinness and watch the begorrah go by. As for the Pope trying to change the celebration date to not interfere with Holy Week? His worshipfulness can go scratch himself, I think--everybody here's just got two days to drink themselves silly on green beer...

The Pope knows - or should, anyway - that the way Lent is figured out is like this - the first Sunday that falls on or before the closest full moon to the 21st of March is Easter. Count back 40 'work days' (that includes Saturday but not Sunday) and that's Ash Wednesday. I guess St. Pat's always DOES fall during lent then, doesn't it?

Enjoy your green beer, m'dear, and the parade.

It's always in lent, but this year it's just before Easter, and all festivals are off in the week before Easter: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7300466.stm

Bad pope! Put it back!

For me, St Paddy's Day's always gonna be the day we all watched El Presidente blabber on about how we were going to go to war with a country that had never attacked us. We all sat on the couch and were appalled together:/
