At about midnight last night, while I was sleeping and dreaming of ways to finish a painting, I heard a rapping, yes I heard a mighty tapping, tapping at my chamber door.
"Just a minute" yelled I, and nothing more.:)
When I pulled on a bathrobe and opened the door, (carefully) my neighbor Ian the Bread-Guy was there, grinning like a loon and brandishing a fresh baguette..."sorry I woke you, but you'll have fresh bread for breakfast!"
Ian lives in my building, a youngish guy in his early twenties, and he works at the same place I do. (Me in building ops, him apprenticing in the bake shop) About once a week he drops by with fresh bread for our floor. (I get teased that I have a conquest by friends, but really, everyone
gets a loaf of something!! Honest!!) I usually trade him bread for fuji apples, little bits of origami, flowers so he can impress his girlfriend, etc. and yes, I am shamelessly lucky for living next to a generous baker!! (Fresh baguette broken off the loaf with apples for breakfast, and more in a sack with soup for lunch...I am heartlessly spoiled...) I sure hope he doesn't keep lurking at midnight though...skulking through the halls, wielding sour-dough against the unwary...beware!!! Beware Ian the Bread Man!!!
(No, really, he's just a nice guy, otherwise I wouldn't be eating mysterious bread from him:)

Saturday and probably sunday I won't be posting--I'm going up into the Northern Wastes to visit my grandpaerents for the holidays..I'm not looking forward to that, I always feel like I'm trapped in an "All in the family" rerun. I'd go into more depth, but it takes some time to describe the situation...it's kind of like trying to follow "Shogun"--Clan warfare, disownments, sneaky political manuvering for territory and power, The only thing missing is the chance to at least learn Japanese while you're going through it... It makes me appreciate my life so much, going to visit my grandparents...my life could be totally different, and extremely unpleasant...

More later, off to the salt mines!!
