Old Home Week at the Maushaus...

msfledermausI'm all distracted at the moment by Matt and Erin's cat, Mr. Bun. he's got his paws in the air, and I've been rubbing his soft, furry belly. He's such a funny creature:)
This weekend's been sooooooo good so far. I had the Pink Satan over with her new gentleman caller, and they spent the night in my Rainy Day Craftroom last night. It turned into a bit of a party in my kitchen--my kitchen lends itself to that. Ben and Peaty were over, since they hadn't seem Liz in some time, and Captain Emily came by as well. She was toting a plastic baggie full of beads and acrylic glass eyes she'd drilled holes into...because of this I am now the proud owner of a choker and bracelet that looks searchingly into your eyes when you look back at them:) We feasted on beef and potatoes au gratin and asparagus...and lots of ice cream and pie when we finally stopped groaning and had room again... For a while we all had our little craft projects going on the kitchen table after the pie was consumed...I was knitting, Liz was crocheting, Nick was goofing on the computer and Emily was a busy bee making sinister jewelry...
The next morning, I made beverages for Liz and her fella while she brought out some fantastic cinnamon buns she picked up from a local bakery. Sheesh, I feel spoiled with all this good food lately. We goofed off with projects again, and I finally got brave enough to try spinning the cashmere she gave me for my birthday. Whooooooboy, cashmere is *scary* to spin! It's so soft, it's like spinning clouds...and one good pull means it'll come apart and stop being yarny while you're spinning! I've read people usually do 12-ply while spinning cashmere...I'm thinking of a three-ply with a little silk thread to give it some strength. What'll I knit with it when it's done? Perhaps a veeeery light, lacy scarf. It's white, so I can dye it whatever color I like, but I'm new enough to dyeing things that it scares me a little to try it with cashmere. I may just keep the stuff white...
And now I'm hanging out with Matt and Erin and the cats. This four day weekend stuff is just wonderful. I feel so much better already! Now if only I can have a four day weekend every week, think of how blissful I'd be:)
