Yesterday I went to the May Day Parade...well, most of the time I sat on a tarp and snacked on things and watched the Parade disassemble before they did the big ceremony at the end. I was a tired Maus, and that was just my speed. I'm a little sunburned, but in a happy way:)
There's been lots of social stuff this nice long weekend. There were a whole bunch of us hanging out on the patio furniture, ordering dumplings and noodles last night. I'm very proud of the new bronze color I picked for the table and chairs...I have enough spraypaint for some touch-up work this week. Anyway, we had just finished ordering food when we all heard several screams and a thump and a large splash. At first we couldn't figure out if it was kids goofing around, since we have a lot of that sort of thing on Boom Island down the way...but Ben yelped, "There's a car in the river!"
We all ran over to the cliff, and down the cliff on the other side of the river was a small white car, butt-first in the water with it's bumper off. We saw some struggling figures in the brush on the cliff, and happily Erin had her cellphone on her...she called 911, and our neighbor Ochen took off in his car to help. The police and ambulance got there pretty quickly, and Ochen told us when he got back that there were 3 people in the car. They were pretty shook up, but it looked like they were going to be okay...(I can imagine they were shook up; imagine going down a cliff to the river...backwards! We all think they were in a parking spot and probably hit reverse when they planned to leave, and couldn't catch the car in time.) By the time I went to bed they had a tow truck out, and police with flashlights trying to figure out how to get the car out of the water and back up the cliff...
So I've had some adventure along with all the blissful stuff.
Today I go back to work. It'll be a little hectic, but my state of mind is much improved.
I'll try to hang onto that as long as I can...meanwhile, I can get through the day and come home and relax... Ahhh, sweet sweet spring!
