Whoo, what a day...

Today started very normally...clip-on tie, lots of kids running around, getting things sorted at the Jade Mines. Then the lights flickered ominously, and there were all kinds of crashing, hissing noises from the roof and the light closets. It seems that one of the outside transformers not only blew up "reeeeal good" but was on fire for quite some time, blanking out my work, the CTC next door, MCAD and the dorms. We all evacuated everybody, and guarded our silent, darkened museum until Xcel could get the lights back on...Of course I couldn't check in online or anything since the power was down, but we finally got everything back up and running just in time to go home.

(And yes, there was much silly face-making with the flashlights...)

But I'm fine now, everybody's fine...how are you?

Scary faces in the dark at a museum; sounds like a field trip I had once. Glad you're okay. That fire could been a lot worse.

Oh, and I'm drowning. It's raining bad again.

Poor thing...here's a towel, too...

yeah, I have the occasional dream about working in the museum with the lights out, having to find patrons and get them out. It was a little like that today,actually:)

I'm just happy that nobody was hurt and we got all the kids out without scaring them...

though I wish the French guy we had was a bit more scared, he kept trying to look in darkened galleries while we were all saying, "Please sir, I'm afraid you can't go in there, we're clearing the building, please leave!"

Ho.Lee Scheiss!!! I hope there weren't any PCBs in the transformers, or there will be contractors in moon suits and scuba tanks cleaning up for 6 months!
