Fun with the push-mower...
Jun. 11th, 2008 07:45 amI came home last night with a nice big bag of groceries...alas, I came through the back yard, where I ran into Peaty and his gardening mojo...
Peaty: "Whatcha got in the bag, Ms Maus?"
Me: "Uhhhhh...peaches."
Peaty: "Jeez, you're just asking to be mugged by someone, aren't you?" *whimpers and looks pleadingly at the bag*
So after feeding the neighbors peaches, we knocked the very high grass down in my back yard with the push-mower. I've got this great picture I took of Ben the Neighbor with his purple mohawk, mowing the lawn. (I'll upload it later.) After a while a big tour came by, cruising around the block. We get these tours where I live, since the houses are historical and most of where I live is part of a state park. Sometimes it's a line of Segways, with the leader giving the tour through a bullhorn while everybody tries to keep their balance and look at the same time. Last night it was one of those large bicycle-trolley deals, where about 10 people or so pedal at the same time. For some reason they cheered a lot when they saw Ben and Peaty gardening out front--Ben with the mohawk and Peaty with his semi-bleached blonde head and beat-up overalls. One of these days I should join the boys outside with the spinning wheel, just to make things that much more interesting...
I really love this place so much. Every day, I wake up and look out at all the trees and the winding river and feel luckier than I've ever been...

Date: 2008-06-11 06:45 pm (UTC)BTW, I've asked the folks at Burning River when first delivery is ... waiting on reply. They had said "third week in June" a few weeks ago, and that's coming right up.
