Happy Father's Day...

msfledermausI've got a headcold. Mrrf. I stayed home from work today, and now I'm watching Shawn of the Dead and taking cold medicine. There was a big biker rally down the way from me, so I had a nap to the soothing roar of many, many Harley Davidsons.
Anyway, I called Dad to wish him a happy father's day, even through the snot...
Father's day is really weird for me. I've got my biological father, who from all accounts seems to have been and still is a pretty big-scale jerk. I always thought he was a pretty decent argument for biology not being all it's cracked up to be in relationships. Then there's my first stepfather, Kim, who my brother and I both attached ourselves to like baby chicks. He died about a year after he married my mom, and it broke all up for the longest time. I still miss him terribly on days like this. Then there's my current stepdad...he came in late in the picture, and dealt with a lot of hard things in our family. He's funny and smart and almost insanely loyal...I'm very lucky to have him as a dad:)
He's getting a boat tomorrow...I may have to find him a pirate flag to go on it. If anybody deserves a Father's Day Pirate Flag for a new boat, it's definitely him:)
