Fourth of July's comin' up. Yep. Another holiday that makes me feel kind of divided. I love my country, but I don't like what fools have been doing in it's name for quite some time now...

I'm thinking about having friends over in the back yard for nice traditional hot dogs and such. I may have to bake some kind of jacked-up John Waters style kind of cake. And then we can all walk to the bridge and watch the fireworks and go "Woowoo!" like we always do:) I think that's my favorite Fourth of July plan so far. Who's with me?

I'm making a grocery list in my head...lessee, hot dogs, buns, potato salad, bug spray, do not use bug spray on the hot dogs, cake-stuff...*mutters distractedly*

I know what you mean, but I still think I'll bake a pie to bring into work that day (of course, I work).

Yeh - I hate my rulers too, but love my country :) I guess that's what the 4th is about. Now, where am I going to find a decent hot dog in poor old London Town...

Hmmmm..that's a tricky one, no doubt about it. I don't think bangers and mash counts. (ummm...what's bangers and mash again?) I bet I could ask Envoy--he used to live in my 'hood, until he moved to London. If anyone would know where an expat Midwesterner can get a quality dog, it would be him:)

Meanwhile, I juuuuust bought a buncha Hebrew nationals and some Cheddar-brats, a Midwestern staple. I'm making Dreamsicle cupcakes too. I have enough for an extra person, even. I don't suppose you can get a boat somewhere and chug your way across the Atlantic Ocean for a backyard party? I'd send it the way Kevin and I sent your root beer, but imagine the box after a week or so of ungentle handling....eeeeeew. Mustard everywhere, I tellya!

"Cheddar-brats" - and they are....? Nooo, let me guess, let me guess - they're little cheesy children, like jelly babies but made of cheese? (I'm kind of hoping that this isn't true)

I've always loved that imagery, of cheesy little children:) it's a cheesy sausage. In fact, I need one right now.

You know, someone pointed out to me today that it's MUCH cheaper for Brits to visit Americans now than it is for us to come see your backyard party. Hurrumph. Not fair, not fair!! I coulda brought some cheddar-brats to sweet London, but Noooooo, ze Bush cronies done took all our moneys, and now we must stay in our own backyards and eat our cheddar brats ALL ALONE!! *sniffle*

I'm not suggesting anybody make any travel plans, nono, I wouldn't do a thing like that...*chuckle*
