I went to bed early last night. Early, I tellya!!

So of course I had a late-night phone call and saw a small moth I had to kill immediately. The phone call was needful--Ben the Neighbor telling me the house painters are coming tomorrow instead of last Friday, and since they need to powerwash the house before they can paint it, I need to close the windows before I go to work. The moth was more problematic, since I have a huge wool stash. I spent some time spraying things with cedar oil and alcohol, and making sure everything tempting was either treated or packed away in plastic. I know this sort of thing happens on an island full of beasties, but the upshot of it was that between the anxiety and the late call...I couldn't sleep. I think I drifted off at last around 11:30 or so. Not great when you get up at 5:30 for work...I'm sure a week's vacation and sleeping late hasn't helped me with this early-bedtime business either:/

I'm finding as I get older it's harder for me to just drop off like I used to. I'm told that's normal, and eventually I won't need as much sleep. Meh. I like to sleep. A lot. It pisses me off when I can't. I spent a good hour thrashing and punching pillows and muttering to myself last night...

Maybe tonight I can catch up, since I won't have to drag myself awake so early...

Took me a while to figure out that you weren't talking about a moth phobia...

I'm not phobic about them, except what their larva can do to my sweaters. They hate cedar oil, though, and soap, and light, so I've been washing stuff like crazy. Autumn is the time they try to get into something woolly or leathery...most museums have a problem with them off and on, and the one I work for is no exception, so we know all about moth killing:)

EH?! This is shocking. I'm never growing up.

I'm told that everybody sleeps a little less when they age...I guess we need it more now, though. Man, I'm tired.

Needing less sleep as you get older is, indeed, one of the things "they say". "They say" also that you wake up earlier in the morning. Hey!! I didn't get that memo, and I don't think I would have wanted to. I've been a night person and a "long hours" sleeper all my life and think I'd like to continue..oh..about..20 years more.

That's kind of comforting...I like sleep and was kind of anxious about not getting more of it. I should have know that "They" say a lot of things:)

Earlier this year, I was having trouble faling asleep, but I haven't been having as much trouble this summer.

I think for me this year it was stress from the negotiations. I'd have these mini-anxiety attacks that would leave me paralyzed and sleepless for hours:p

Then it should go away. :-)
